Our story begins when Bernardo Hernández Blázquez, founder of BEHER, began crafting and selling artisanal Ibérico products in Guijuelo, Spain. Thanks to his passion for authenticity and excellence, today you can savor the essence of a century-old tradition.

In the 1970s, his son Bernardo Hernández García took over, driving BEHER's growth and international expansion. He incorporated the breeding of 100% pure Ibérico pigs, ensuring that every piece you enjoy results from generations of genetic improvement for an unsurpassed flavor.

At the turn of the century, under the leadership of the third generation with Bernardo and Jorge Hernández Tinoco, BEHER achieved full control of the production process: from breeding to curing and sales. And not just anywhere — but on over 2,000 hectares of our own dehesa, where our animals roam free, feeding on acorns and natural pasture.

At over 3,300 feet above sea level, Guijuelo has something you can’t manufacture:clean, dry, cold air. Winter after winter, summer after summer, that climate does what no industrial fridge ever could.

While others rush the process with machines,  we let our ham mature slowly — the way it’s always been done.

No shortcuts. No tricks. Just time, tradition, and deep respect for the craft.

We believe it’s also recognized for the work, the consistency, and an almost obsessive commitment to doing things right.

Since 2001, at the IFFA Fair in Frankfurt —the world’s most prestigious meat industry event— we’ve been awarded 130 times.

Yes, one hundred and thirty.

Gold, silver, bronze. Years like 2013 and 2016 where we swept the board. And we don’t say this to brag. We say it because it says a lot about who we are.

But that’s not all.

We’ve also been named Best Acorn-Fed Ham in Castile and León on three occasions.

We’ve won the National “Salón del Jamón” Award, the Gold Medal at the SUFFA Fair in Stuttgart, La Posada Award from El Mundo for the best business project in Salamanca…

And even the judges at the LiderPack Awards liked our packaging so much, they gave that a prize too.
